When bodybuilding wasn't just about 'size'.

This is from a time when there was no difference between a Body Builder and a Strong man... Where Bodybuilders fought for their pride & shut up the detractors by proving that just cause they posed on stage doesn't mean you discount the strength in these incredible muscles...

Lou Ferrigno & Franco Columbu exemplify what & who a Bodybuilder really is.

BattlereadyX: THE PERFECT BODY: How the media creates a body ideal that is almost impossible to reach.

BattlereadyX: THE PERFECT BODY: Since times immemorial, the perception of beauty has constantly kept changing. And with the advent of communication arts, it has been changing ever more rapidly. And unfortunately in recent times, owing to the grandiose rise of a bunch of factors, it has been moving towards an almost impossible, artificial and at times, life threatening level.

Powder Waali Body - The 'Convenient Wisdom' about Supplements and Bodybuilding

In India, every now and then i come across the standard fitness illiterate passing his or her vernacular judgement on people with visibly good physiques or people they see taking supplements. "Powder waali body", they say mockingly.

The best way to deal with these idiots, i realized is to rub it in their faces and not give a royal f**k about it.
Rather than sit around and educate all these people about how protein works and why it is essential for athletes to have protein supplementation, say yes and move on. We have better things to do in life.

People generally think that bodies built with supplements are weaker and that's thanks to loads of idiots who can afford supplements and have them and yet train like little gym kittens - getting great muscular hypertrophy but no true strength within. They're the kind that bunk leg day and do a double-triple abs day for multiple endless reps. They're the kind that have been misguided to think that they need to choose between hypertrophy and strength and cant have both.
STRENGTH is a more function of HOW you train rather than how you supplement, even though both are important. And that is a fact. But you cant go around explaining this to every idiot. So don't give a F and just say yes - and move on.

So now i'm gonna wear this design on my tee at my seminars on fitness and at public events.
Looking forward to it.

a timecapsule of letters

view full image

Found a little time capsule of letters and notes from friends and from the people i have loved. And notes and poems i had written about them. Also a book that I had written. It's such a trip back in time to relive all those moments - happiness and pain and ecstasy. So amazing to be reminded of how deeply you felt something back at a moment in time. So revealing to see time change things and people and at the same time sometime, to see it not be able to change a thing. It's so amazing to see a pattern in your own behaviour that you are otherwise oblivious to - to see that everytime a serious relationship broke, it took two years of self destructive behaviour to heal the pain - and in retrospect, to be able to see how stupid it was. To be able to learn a lesson out of it. To be able to take it in and assimilate it and feel no animosity towards anyone but just happiness instead - for them and yourself. It's a huge mixed bag of feelings when you take a walk through your past. But most of it, is still just plain beautiful. A reminder that you have lived a life you can call your own. And in my case, however it was, it was always a 110%. And I love that.

Cellucor - Now Officially Available in India!

My new cellucor stack from Neulife! For the people who dont know why that's exciing - well, Cellucor is one brand that always is 100% true to its label - rightfully making it the most elite brand of quality supplements in the world. I had been waiting for it to be officially available in India - coz if you buy something thats known for its purity from the grey market, its like filling distilled water from the gutter - you just dont get the real stuff. I'm glad It's now available in India officially through Neulife - guaranteeing its purity and keeping grey market tampering and adulteration at bay. Glad im back to all my lifts without pain now - so its Time to get the game on with the new stack! Go Cellucor! :-)

the facebook comments that happened ont his post aslo throw a lot of light on my choices and reasons, so sharing them also here:

How to Organize a Successful Photowalk

ARTICLE BY Tiffany Mueller

Tiffany Mueller is a professional music and fine art photographer. She has been published in multiple publications including magazines, art journals, and various photography books. She blogs at Life Is Unabridged.
Photowalks are nothing new, anyone remotely interested in photography and with access to the internet has probably heard about one taking place somewhere in the world. Notable photographers like Scott Kelby, Trey Ratcliff, and Thomas Hawk are active participants and promoters of photowalks all around the world and their support has, undoubtedly, helped to increase the ever growing interest in the social events.

Dawn Of The Planet of The Apes

MonkeyRating: 10/10
actually a 9/10, but the cinematic brilliance of this movie in a time that lacks cinematic awesomeness prompted me to give it a 10.

Waddabout: In a post apocalyptic world destroyed by the simian flu, a society of humans clash paths with a society of genetically mutated intelligent apes over a hydel power dam that could restore much needed power to the human society. The battle that ensues will trigger a war that will determine which will be the dominant species of the planet.

What to watch out for: Amazing story line where no character is without raison-d-etre, good, bad, misled or sheer evil.
Mind blowingly spectacular CG that is impossible to tell is computer generated.
Andy Serkis in a performance that is DESERVING of an OSCAR.
And a slow burning cinematic experience that leaves you moved, entertained and looking forward for the finale in this trilogy.

What sucks: NOTHING. Only that few whiners will complain that a few parts are too slow. screw them whiners.

BTW: Matt Reeves, the director of DOTPOTA is the same guy who made the other film that blew me away in recent times - one that i judged as a cinematic masterpiece in recent times - LET ME IN

One Year as a Minimal Nomad: Year 28

In a life full of unnecessary attachments and meaningless possessions, what are the things you really NEED to live a complete life? This was the question that refused to leave my head at my previous birthday. So i decided to test it out. I set out to live a year with just 50 possessions, one ruck sack and no place to call home. This year as i turned 29, i finally got a place of my own again - but it wont ever be like any house i have lived in before. Coz within it, in spirit, will always live this one year i have just lived - One year full of learning, experiences, lessons and memories. These are the little gems I have salvaged from it all:

BMW i8 - How Awesome Car Commercials Should Be

On one hand you have the crappy commercials recently created by JAGUAR India - utterly distasteful, lowering an amazing brand to the level of a bollywood celebrity, shot distastefully, with crappy music and un-awe-inspiring direction. And then, on the other hand, you have sheer magnificience - an idea broght to life in visuals, sound and emotion evoking incredibulosity by BMW.

Have a look at the BMW i-8 commercials and you will know eactly what an incredible car commercial looks like in every term.

Now that you have seen awesomeness, i also insist you see why the JAGUAR india commericals were so piss poor in my view. See for yourself.
This is the version without kareena kapoor, the bollywood 'star'. yet it looks more like an ad for a mall rather than for a luxury car. except for the final frame, which is the saving grace of this commercial:

and this is the commercial with the 'star':

Guys, please remember, if your CAR is A BRAND IN ITSELF, it is the real STAR of your commercial. Dont degrade yourself by piggybacking on a smaller 'star'.

Cheerios!
